Alfa Romeo 8C (1931 - 1939)
This was the classic series of high-performance Alfa Romeos that won classic races like the Targo Florio and Mille
Miglia. The largest version, with a 2.9 litre straight-eight engine had a power output of 180 bhp, making it the fastest production car in the world with a
top speed of 110 mph. Even today 180 bhp from 2.9 litres is a respectable output. The engines were matched by advanced chassis (later models had all-
independent suspension) and beautiful bodywork. Today, the rarest Mille Miglia roadsters would be worth up to £3 million.
