Lamborghini Miura (1966 - 1973)
The world's first supercar, it appeared only as a rolling chassis in 1965 to test reaction to the idea of a mid-
engined road car (at the time the layout had only been proven on the racetrack). When Bertone came up with a body that was even more radical than the
chassis, Lamborghini had to make it. The Miura wasn't quite as fast as the publicity suggested, with a top speed of around 165 mph, but that was no bad
thing. One that was specially tuned to reach 180 mph nearly took off on an Italian motorway - the body was more about looks than aerodynamics.
